Now you might think that I chose my second theme, the importance of imagination, because of the part it played in rebuilding my life, but that is not wholly so.

Though I personally will defend the value of bedtime stories to my last gasp, I have learned to value imagination in a much broader sense.

Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and therefore the fount of all invention and innovation.

In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared.

Now you might think that I chose my second theme(主題), the importance of imagination, because of the part it played in rebuilding my life, but that is not wholly(全然地) so.

Though I personally will defend(辯護) the value of bedtime stories to my last gasp(我人生最後一口氣), I have learned to value imagination in a much broader sense(更廣泛的意義).

Imagination is not only the uniquely(唯一性的) human capacity(人類的能力) to envision(展望) that which is not, and therefore the fount of(…的源泉) all invention and innovation.

In its arguably(可爭辯的) most transformative(可變化的) and revelatory(啟示的) capacity(能力), it is the power that enables us to empathize with(給同理心) humans whose experiences we have never shared.

雖然我個人會捍衛defend睡前故事bedtime stories到最後一口氣to my last gasp,我更明白想像力的價值有更廣泛的意義in a much broader sense

Someone’s last gasp

wpid-last-gasp-color2.jpg

Uniquely

EMC2.jpg

The fount of something

東西的源泉,好像青少年寫作文,最常見的友the fount of wisdom, the fount of knowledge;可以講the fount of beautiful women嗎?

o-STROKKUR-GEYSER-570.jpg

Revelatory ['revələtəri]

Formative

Formative years of children

68114566.png

Inform

J.K. Rowling

JK-Rowling_1002500c.jpg

Slope off

Sneak away

Every day of my working week in my early 20s I was reminded how incredibly fortune I was, to live in a country with a democratically elected government, where legal representation and a public trial were the rights of everyone.
