Cap(帽子)，動詞「加蓋」
例如：snow-capped mountains，戴了雪帽的山 ，積雪的山
引申出兩個不同含意「設限」和「勝過」
設限：I’ll have to cap the budget.
(我必須限制預算)
勝過：I can cap your joke with a better one.
(我講的笑話可以勝過你的)
如果要勝過全部的人，需要一頂超級大帽才可以全蓋下來，to cap it all off，「更有甚者...」、「更誇張的是...」：
他吃我的喝我的，更誇張的是，還泡我女朋友。
He ate my food, drank my beers and to cap it all, he was dating my girlfriend.
to cap it all，是英式的講法，美國多一個off, to cap it all off
(事實上，美國人比較喜歡用Top, to top it all off)
